PlayStation 4 Announcement Coming in February? Xbox 720 at E3?

Sony has recently announced that they are holding another Destination PlayStation Event that is primarily attended by retailers in Scottsdale, Arizona from February 25th until February 28th. The invitation are said to point directly at showcasing the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Vita lineup for 2013. Although speculation fueled by the timing of this event have people thinking its the time and place Sony will formally announced their much rumored PlayStation 4.

Every time new consoles are on the horizon rumors and speculation hit all time highs. Everyone finds a different reason why this console maker will do this or that and for what reason. What we know so far is both Sony and Microsoft have new consoles in development which are more then likely going to launch in 2013 or 2014.

Microsoft recently made public a countdown timer that most people believe is the countdown to an Xbox 720 announcement. This countdown ends during E3 2013 and seems like a good time for Microsoft to announce their product. It will be difficult to announce a product and have it on shelves by the end of 2013. With that in mind I would guess that the next Xbox will likely see its release in the first half of 2014.

Sony on the other hand opened their options up more with having this Destination PlayStation event scheduled for February, and also seems to be a good time frame for a Fall 2013 launch window. I’m not going to begin to predict exactly what these giants intend on doing, however it seems likely we will see something from Sony in February at a minimum. I also believe we will hear from both companies by the time E3 is over.

These companies need to get their heads out of their ass and say something already, did Nintendo not already prove that this waiting game is not a good decision.
